Janet Protasiewicz
It is not an exaggeration to say these are some of the first professional fundraising emails for a Supreme Court candidate, and they were done in one of the most important races in 2023.
This standout race was one of the most expensive in Wisconsin history and outside of record-breaking spending, the results of the election had huge implications for the future of democracy in the state. Our program raised more than $1.1 million while maintaining 577% ROI for the campaign.
But because of judicial law, we faced an unusual obstacle in digital fundraising: Janet couldn't personally make any requests for money. While there are easy workarounds to the issue on the phone or in-person, we had to find creative ways to ask for grassroots support without burning out her audience.
Her program heavily relied on creative sender names – her husband and her dog, to name a few – and unique content execution to relay similar messages in a way that felt refreshing and new each time. As we got closer to the election, we ramped up our send volume while still maintaining our level of quality and personalization. Our innovative tactics included utilizing unique sender names, straight-to-cam gifs and incredibly local-to-Wisconsin content, from Culver’s Butterburgers to Spotted Cow brews.
Her historic win in April 2023 was hugely celebrated across the state, and it's not an exaggeration to say that our program was integral in effectively raising more than enough to reach voters across Wisconsin, secure essential campaign resources, and ultimately save democracy in the state.
